There were some adolescent girls crossing the street in front of me today. One was wearing, I kid you not, bubble gum pink argyle socks with a black strappy heels.
I am afraid for our young people.

Re: socks+ heels
Fri, September 16, 2005 - 8:35 AMSince when have we not been? It's always seemed to me, that the more money someone has to spend on fashion, the more their tastes deteriorate. Just because the item costs two grand, that doesn't make it worth it's weight in taste.
Though I could also say the same with home decor, sadly. The last time I caught an MTV Cribs, it was the most nauseating display of tacky that I'd ever witnessed.

Tue, September 13, 2005 - 11:36 PMIt was "in" in the late 70's and the 80's. Trust me, this is one trend that won't die. -

Thu, September 15, 2005 - 12:53 PMIf you see enough of it, you'll come around. Same with any fashion. I couldn't believe it when tube tops (I'll never be down with that one) and bell bottoms came back, but now I've gotten rid of all my straight leg pants.

Fri, September 16, 2005 - 2:50 PMI agree wiht you Beth. However, I will take it even further... I think the 'sock + heel' is having a comeback. Even conservative fashion mags are sporting that look. It's somewhat growing on me. -

Re: socks+ heels
Wed, January 11, 2006 - 11:32 AM"Lucky" is showing that look a lot. I have never really liked it, but I think if the shoes are closed-toe and the tights or socks aren't too colorful, then it can be kinda cool, even pretty. It's sweet and unexpected -- and tights sure are nice and warm! Of course, I don't wear skirts this time of year (still searching for low-heeled, inexpensive boots that fit my skinny ankles and flat feet).
