what do you all think about the TLC show "What Not to Wear"? I think they often have good ideas - but some of their outfits are real klinkers - and the super pointy toed shoes they steer women to - yuck!

Well, it depends on whether you're talking about the British version or the American one. I think both can be great upgrades for frumpy dressers. I have to disagree with you on the pointy toes....it elongates the line of the leg, and makes you look even more graceful.. That is, of course, unless you don't know how to walk in heels. Then you should have kitten heels, but, well, still pointy! I'm not fond of round toe shoes, but thats because it looks like they've chopped my toes off, and I *like* my feet just the way they are, thankyouverymuch!

Back to topic, I think WNTW is a great idea for a show, and when you're dressing that many people in that many outfits, theres bound to be a flop once in a while.

I LOVE WNTW and watch it every week. As for the pointy-toed shoes...well I adore them. They elongate the line of the leg making your legs look more graceful. The trick is to get them the correct size for plenty of toe room. I don't like my heels too high, but I am a fan of the point. I know this year's look is rounded toes, but I always feel like my feel look stubby in them - and I wear a size 10!

I don't always agree with the outfits they choose on WNTW, but the advice is good and I like that they aren't slaves to trends.

I used to watch the English version on BBC America and most of the time they were pretty right on, EXCEPT for one thing I can never get behind:

They insist that if you have a small bust then low cut items are not for you, only for the bustier among us, and they are always putting flatter women in shirts cut way up to their necks. I think it looks ugly.

Years ago, when I was younger and much thinner with quite a small chest, I used to wear nothing but very low cut shirts, blouses, dresses, etc. I think it can look elegant, since there's nothing "hanging out".
