What the fuck is this new style all the frat-like dudes are doing with the sides slickd back and the top spiked up a-la Sonic the hedgehog?

Re: The Faux-Hawk
Mon, June 13, 2005 - 2:08 PMYeah I agree. I've seen some good Faux-Hawks. But I have also seen some hideous ones. I guess if the person is HOT they can get away with it. If you're not so beautifull please stay away from the Faux-Hawk. -

Re: The Faux-Hawk
Tue, June 14, 2005 - 12:44 AMDude.. this thread is where I get snobby again.
The faux-hawk was SO three years ago. Anybody who has one in NYC now is either
1. Gay, rich and clueless.
2. Gay, rich, balding and clueless.
****
Actually, three or four years ago I remember visiting Seattle. I rocked a faux-hawk out because I didn't see anybody with them for the first part of my visit. I remember feeling as if I should expose people to this 'new idea' which I didn't even really participate in.
I think currently the thing to do if you are thinning/balding is to grow your hair shaggy and hope it covers it up. That's what I do. If that doesn't work you should buzz your head every two days or so. Faux hawks say a lot about an individual. If a frat guy does something... well.... let's not kid ourselves. -

Re: The Faux-Hawk
Mon, June 20, 2005 - 9:12 PMi just find it funny that it seems shortly after i went back to wearing my REAL hawk...(back an sides shaved) that all of a sudden all the faux ones pop out of no where. since I have locs it is kinda versatile for work since the locs are long enough to land in all the right places for those "professional" moments that arise.
i have seen some cute variations of what i consider faux....the back and sides instead of bald are peach fuzzed and then there is the "tuft" i going from the front to the back down the middle. I only consider that look faux because unless im wrong a true hawk is back and sides clean shaven.
speaking of which I need to go anhead and shave my back and sides again less I have a faux going on too.

Re: The Faux-Hawk
Mon, September 26, 2005 - 12:25 PMAhhh I have to say, I have a weakness for it on some men. This year, I dated a cute little 20 year old with one, and he just made me drool...of course, that could have been more him than the faux hawk, but it was still very cute on him... But I do understand what you mean...the frat boys wearing striped polos, cargo shorts and sockless tennis shoes with the faux hawk drive me nuts...not much style to them.
(and no, my 20 year old was not a frat boy!) -
